Galar: Travel Guide

Posted by Fable Hobby on

Hello fellow Pokémon trainers! Put the essentials in your bag and let’s travel to Galar in this month’s travel guide!

Did you know that Galar is based on the island of Great Britain flipped upside-down as if being viewed from the north? The main region itself is based on England and Wales, while the Crown Tundra is based on Scotland, plus the Isle of Man would represent the Isle of Armor.

Our first stop is at Postwick, a small town located at the southern end of Galar whose slogan describes itself as “a farming town since days of old, where people and their Pokémon live in close harmony”. Sounds like the perfect place to stroll peacefully with your Pokémon companions!

Also south we find Wedgehurst, home to the Pokémon Research Lab! After shopping at the Poké Mart, you can take a train from the Wedgehurst Station to Motostoke, Hulbury and Wyndon.

Motostoke is located central south of the Galar region. It is an industrial city with steam-powered marvels of modern engineering with a couple of places of interest such as a boutique to buy some fancy Trainer clothes, a café to relax after catching new and awesome Pokémon and a Stadium located on the upper floor district.

Moving to central Galar we arrive to Hulbury, home to the Galar region’s Water-type Gym: Hulbury Stadium. Tired after a day of catching Pokémon? Well, you can stroll to Hulbury’s seaport and shop at its lively market. Don’t forget to eat some seafood at Hulbury’s famous restaurant, The Captain’s Table!

At the northernmost part of the Galar region lies Wyndon, the most populous city of Galar and the second-most populous behind Kalos’s Lumiose City! This large metropolis is home to the biggest Stadium in Galar which also serves as the Pokémon League HQ. The best place to rest is found here at Wyndon: five-star hotel Rose of the Rondelands, an elegant Gothic and Victorian building with some touches of Art Deco. You can also visit the Rose Tower and shop at the boutique, grab a coffee to refill some energy and rest at the salón. Wyndon has a lot to offer to travelers, don’t miss this spot!

Not all places at Galar are as big as Wyndon, our next stop is Turffield, a small town located in central Galar full of houses lined up like a mortar withing the terraced fields and home to the region’s Grass-type Gym.

Hammerlocke is a city of great history, living and thriving within castle walls that date back to the middle ages. Located in central Galar, the Hammerlocke Stadium specializes in Dragon-type Pokémon. Which Dragon-type is your favorite Pokémon so far?

There are many interesting places to visit in the center of the Galar region, Stow-on-Side town is one of them. If you stop by Stow-on-Side, you can’t miss the Ancient mural: a large stone wall with a recreation of an ancient mural on it. If you are interested visiting it, it is located at the northernmost point of the town.

Ballonlea is a small, secluded town situated in a dense forest in the northwestern Galar region. This town is surrounded by glowing mushrooms which provide most of the light outside due to Ballonlea being quite dark for being nestled within a forest. It is the best place if you are into Fairy-type Pokémon, as Ballonlea Stadium specializes on them. If you are brave enough, you can cross the Glinwood Tangle, a dark, maze-like forest filled with big luminescent mushrooms!

In a cold, mountainous part of the northeastern Galar region lies the relatively large, old, peaceful city of Circhester. It comprises a couple of popular places, including a Pokémon Center and a Stadium among others. Visit Hero’s Bath, an ancient stone pillar structure containing a rectangular hot spring. After a tiring day, you can have some sleep at Hotel Iona.

At the Eastern end of Galar you can find Spikemuth, a town with a punk vibe where the streets are crammed with many shops.

As our tour comes to an end, we can’t leave the region without visiting Freezington, located at the chilling Crown Tundra. After getting to know a bit more about the story on Calyrex and strolling the village, take some rest at the Freeze Inn. Regardless of what the name suggests, it’s a cozy and warm place to stay!

We hope you enjoyed this mini-tour around the Galar region, home to Sobble, Grookey and Scorbunny. Which of these towns and cities would you first visit on your next Pokémon trip? 😉
